Schoeller Arca Systems solutions
We’ve been collaborating with Europe's most innovative postal services for many years to create efficient packaging and logistics solutions including boxes made entirely from plastic, and crates. As a result we are able to tailor solutions to the specific needs in each country. Here are a few examples of our customised solutions:
Three new letterboxes for Deutsche Post
We produce three different types of post boxes
, made from plastic that have considerably improved efficiency for the Deutsche Post. The plastic boxes are tailored to automatic sorting systems, but are also suitable for manual handling thanks to their lightweight, ergonomic handles and easy opening and closing mechanism. Their turn-stack construction allows the letterboxes to be stacked stably. Moreover, both the box and top can be nested when empty, saving 40% floor space.
Letterbox for private postal services
We designed a unique Schoeller Arca Systems letterbox for the growing number of private companies that provide postal services. Compatible with most of the traditional equipment used by postal sorting and distribution centres, it has already started to become a new “standard”. It is suitable for handling all kinds of letters so that fewer post boxes are required, and that leads to significant purchase savings. The turn-stack construction allows the boxes, made from recycled plastic, to be stacked in a stable way and nested when empty which results in a 46% volume reduction.
Parcel boxes for Deutsche Post Euro Express
In close cooperation with Deutsche Post Euro Express, we developed a series of UN-certified returnable parcel post boxes for the safe distribution of all kinds of valuable parcels. The boxes, because of their robust plastic design, are able to cope with heavy loads, so they are suitable for the distribution of many different products.
Ease-of-use was prioritised during the design process, so the new boxes are lightweight, fitted with ergonomic handles and a top, which is easy to open and close. To assure the recipient that the box has not been opened during transit, its contents are sealed with a first-owner seal that can be fitted and removed easily, quickly and without tools in one movement.
Both the boxes and the plastic tops fit into each other, for a volume reduction of 70% during storage and return transport, ultimately saving on costs. Identification labels are easily attached and removed from the top and provisions for Radio Frequency are integrated into the design. The parcel box, as a plastic solution, offers many advantages compared to cardboard packaging material and is therefore already popular for business-to-business parcel post.
A mailbox especially for printed matter
For the distribution of catalogues, magazines, books, letters weighing more than 200 grams – all ‘heavy duty’ printed matter with special dimensions – we have designed yet another special mailbox! It provides maximum stability during transport and handling. The rotary stack construction saves 50% of volume when nested. The mailbox can be supplied with a matching lid and has ample provisions for the printing of a company name or logo.
Lightest ever
crates for La Poste
In 2000, cooperating with the French LA POSTE group, we developed a new generation of mail crate. It is adapted to the existing sorting machine, stackable and nestable (50% space saving when the boxes return empty). It also includes a bar code system and is predisposed for the addition of an RFID system.
The two main containers are the lightest in the world; achieving this record was one of LA POSTE’s biggest aims. This box has since been chosen by other national postal companies, because of its lightweight plastic design. Meanwhile, LA POSTE has decided to replace all previously used systems such as bags, with this new crate.
